Jeremy Overbeck grew up in Fargo ND and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he graduated with a Bachelors of Music, Music Education degree in May of 2004. Jeremy then moved with his family to Bismarck, ND where he began his teaching career in the Bismarck Public School system. In 2016, he received his Masters of Music Education, Conducting Emphasis through Colorado State University, Fort Collins campus. He currently teaches orchestra at Horizon Middle School and Century High School in grades 7-12.
One of the highlights of Jeremy's careers started in 2017 when he introduced United Sound to North Dakota. United Sound is a peer mentoring program focusing on inclusion of students with disabilities in the school music program. He has since expanded the program to both Century High School and Horizon Middle School in Bismarck and had students featured in the Rose Bowl Parade. Jeremy is active in the community as well. He plays in the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra and is the past Principal Cello of the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra. He performs in many small groups throughout the year for various events. Jeremy is a member of NAfME where he is the current west representative for orchestra and ASTA where he is a member at large. In 2020, Jeremy was named a Quarter Finalist for the Grammy Music Educator of the Year Award through the Grammy Foundation. Jeremy and his wife Alicia have four children; Joseph (19), Emma (16), Brooklyn (12), and Zachary (5) and a Golden-Doodle named Bella (1). |
Ross Baumgardner creates energy and enthusiasm among students and instills a passion for music. He has been teaching orchestra in Bismarck since 2016 and serves as one of the directors of the prestigious Strolling Strings of Bismarck. Often performing with ensembles throughout the state, including the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra, the Minot Symphony Orchestra, with the Dakota Chamber Music festival, and the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra, Ross is active as a professional musician who appears on stage regularly. Ross graduated in 2016 from Concordia College, Summa Cum Laude, inducted member of the Society Phi Kappa Lambda, with a Minor in Religion. He graduated in 2019 from Minnesota State University at Moorhead with a M.S. in Education, and is currently pursuing his doctorate at University of North Dakota. His performance career is marked by an international musical tour of Isreal-Palestine in 2014 and appearing as a soloist performing Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto in 2016. Through the years, he has arranged and organized several opportunities for orchestra students, most recently including a summer orchestra program and a Middle Level Honors festival. Ross maintains a rigorous private violin studio, and in his free time enjoys Taekwondo, bagpiping, and Minecraft.
